INGLEWOOD, Calif., June 26 (Our Los Angeles) — Türkiye beat the United States men’s national team 3-2 deep in stoppage time in Los Angeles, but the Americans still advanced to the round of 32 as winners of Group D.

Kaan Ayhan scored the late winner after Auston Trusty and Sebastian Berhalter had scored for the U.S. Arda Güler and Barış Alper Yılmaz scored Türkiye’s other goals, according to the official match report.

The loss did not change the Americans’ path. The U.S. had already clinched first place in Group D before facing Türkiye and is scheduled to play Bosnia and Herzegovina in the round of 32 on July 1, with tournament listings placing that match in Santa Clara, California.

The match at SoFi Stadium drew 70,492, according to the official report.
