NAPA, Calif., July 5 (Sonoma Times) — Napa County sheriff’s deputies said Paul Pelosi, 86, could face misdemeanor hit-and-run charges after authorities said he struck a legally parked car in Yountville and drove away on July 3.

Deputies responded to the crash on the 6700 block of Yount Street around 2:30 p.m., according to the sheriff’s office account reported by the Associated Press. No injuries were reported.

A preliminary alcohol screening showed a 0.00 reading, and deputies said driving under the influence was ruled out. The sheriff’s office said Pelosi was not arrested, calling that common in misdemeanor cases under California law.

The case was referred to the Napa County District Attorney’s Office for review, and the sheriff’s office said a DMV re-evaluation referral would follow.

Pelosi was also charged in Napa County in 2022 after a separate collision. In a June 23, 2022 press release, the district attorney’s office said it filed misdemeanor DUI-with-injury charges, said a blood test showed a .082% alcohol concentration, and said he was due in Napa County Superior Court for arraignment.
