WASHINGTON, June 15 (DC Times Online) — Sen. Mitch McConnell was admitted to a hospital in Washington, D.C., on the morning of June 14, and his office said the Kentucky senator was “receiving excellent care.”
McConnell spokesperson David Popp did not disclose why McConnell was hospitalized, and the office did not identify the hospital.
In a June 16 update, Popp told CBS News that McConnell was “fully engaged with staff on Senate business and Kentucky matters.”
McConnell was also hospitalized earlier this year after experiencing “flu-like symptoms,” according to statements from his office.
Popp said McConnell checked himself into a local hospital for evaluation on Feb. 2 and was discharged on Feb. 10. After his release, Popp said McConnell was feeling better and would work from home for the rest of that week on doctors’ advice.
